2008 Season Outlook
With a core of veterans returning to Sierra the 2008 Wolverines has lofty expectations for its upcoming season. Playing in the Northern California toughest conference (Big 8) Sierra will look to improve its 4th place finish with their goals set on the playoffs.
The keys to this years high expectations begin with returning arsenal of Big 8 all conference players Kristen Cleland (setter), Kim Albers (MB), Kay Kay Jones, (2006 MB), Mandy Bastian (DS 2006), and Brittany Wynne (OH 2nd team). Also returning is outside hitter Geanna Foster, Middle Blocker Farrin Smith and Defensive Specialist Mami Miyagi.
Joining the 2008 returnees are freshman Outside Hitters Allie Harvey (Roseville High) and Desiree Hiett (Rocklin) and Middle Blockers Rachel Hamilton (Oakmont) and Rennee Saylor (Golden Sierra). Rounding out the freshman class is standout Defensive Specialist Larae Saylor (Golden Sierra).
“After training hard this spring and summer, I think this team is eager to compete,” says Nelson. We have a solid base of returning players hungry to get back on the court, as well as new comers ready to meet the challenges of collegiate competition.
Sierra opens the season late in August in Weed taking on 2007 Golden Valley conference champion College of Siskiyous and 2007 Bay Valley conference champions Napa College.
