What Programs and Services Are Offered to EOPS Students?
EOPS Services:
- COUNSELING:
EOPS counselors provide academic advising,
career planning and personal counseling. Counselors assist students
with establishing educational and career goals. A student educational
plan is developed for each student and assistance with registration
is given. Financial aid information and assistance is also provided.
- PRIORITY REGISTRATION:
Continuing EOPS students who are
in good standing receive priority registration each semester.
New EOPS students may receive priority registration during new
student registration.
- TEXTBOOKS:
Each semester eligible EOPS students may receive
a book voucher to be used towards the purchase of textbooks.
- TUTORING:
Free tutoring is available for all EOPS students.
Students are encouraged to seek tutoring early in the semester.
- TRANSFER ASSISTANCE:
EOPS counselors provide information
to assist students who are transferring to a college or university.
Working closely with a counselor, students will complete the necessary
transfer requirements for a Bachelor's Degree. Fee waivers for
UC/CSU admission applications and transfer agreements are available
to eligible students. Transfer agreements are written to assist
with the transfer process (UC/CSU).
- GRADUATION ASSISTANCE:
Counselors assist EOPS students
with the evaluation of Associate Degree and/or Certificate Petitions.
Graduation filing fee(s) may be waived and cap and gowns may be
purchased for eligible EOPS students.
- PARKING PERMIT OR BUS PASS:
Eligible EOPS students receive
a free parking permit each semester. A Placer Transit Bus pass
may be obtained in lieu of a parking permit.
Additional Services for CARE Eligible Students:
- CARE GRANT:
Eligible CARE students may receive a Grant
to be used for educationally related expenses such as assistance
with child care, textbooks, supplies and transportation costs.
($200-400 each semester).
- SPECIALIZED COUNSELING AND ADVISEMENT:
CARE students
also receive referrals to campus and off-campus agencies and departments.
Other support services offered are workshops focused on parenting
skills and group support meetings.
